Majestic Oaks Dam Improvements

The signature lake at the Majestic Oaks Equestrian Community was unable to maintain a normal pool level due to a corroded principal spillway pipe. Several temporary band-aids were not able to solve the problem. Mattingly Engineers was hired to develop a long-term solution that would maintain a consistent lake level for the centerpiece of the community.

Mattingly Engineers’ design included removing the 15-year old corroded metal riser pipe and spillway, and replacing it with a pre-cast concrete manhole riser and pre-cast concrete outlet pipe. In order to save costs, the original low-flow valve was re-used (after some cleaning and maintenance), and installed inside the riser.

Mattingly Engineers provided design services (including a geotechnical evaluation of the dam and Hydrologic & Hydraulic analysis); plan preparation; permitting and coordination with the Kentucky Division of Water Dam Safety Division; bidding assistance; and construction administration and monitoring.
